Put a Penny on the Needle
This is an old piece and if you are of my age I KNOW you can relate to the title.
As a child I clearly remember being asked to move the arm of the record player so that it would no longer play in the same groove...REPEATING THE SAME TUNE OVER AND OVER, AGAIN!!

Oftentimes, as I became older, I was asked to ...
"Put a Penny on the Needle"
so that it would provide weight and assist the needle in moving along on the established grooves of the vinyl.
This is a piece that will receive varying perspectives and evoke many memories among the listeners.
My perspective and my question...
When will someone possess the fortitude to apply the penny to the situations that persons of color endure each and every day, so that we can move on within this society and be afforded the REAL OPPORTUNITY to live our BEST LIVES?
In other words, when will we be TRULY FREED from this RUT that is continually and purposely prepared for US.
A simple question that is certain to receive a plethora of answers and questions as to what we, as people of color, perceive ourselves as being denied.
OUR SPIRIT...LIVES!!!
